Spring has arrived! This is the time of the year when people get to enjoy the outdoors with fun activities embracing the rays of the sun, ever so happy to put the cold winter days behind them.
Introduced in 2015, the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) has dedicated the entire month of September to childhood cancer awareness. As spring arrives, it is the perfect time to wear yellow and gold to show your support for children in Namibia fighting against cancer.
In addition to the CAN Cafe’s delicious pancake and cupcake sales, the “Yellow Ribbon Festival,” a fun run/walk event supported by AlexForbes, was held on 24 September. The festival included a Jazz festival evening and awareness activations in aid of raising funds for the CHICA Namibia Fund (Children Fighting Cancer in Namibia).
99FM joined hands with the CAN team to share statistics, facts and information on symptoms and awareness and much more on the #MYDHeart segment. Members of the public from all walks of life also joined the activities by taking part in the fun walk and enjoying the smooth jazz sounds with performances by Lize Ehlers, Arthur and Vocalfront & Ndayola.
Do your part and join the world at large; pause to recognise contributions from advocates around the world and call for renewed collaboration to care for children with cancer around the world. The Cancer Association of Namibia currently serve about 3700 cancer patients through their various departments and solely relies on the support from the public.
